What Happened To Our Roar?

Football was once upon a time, a great sport for many Singaporeans ~ on the field and in the stands.
Today, the game lies terminally ill with interest and participation dropping to below sea level.
We have a local league played to 7th month like crowds and only the echoes are louder than the action on and off the pitch. It continues to exist for the sake of having a domestic professional league.
The only thing professional about the league is the laksa stall outside Jalan Besar Stadium.
On the national team front, we are now ranked 165. Our fall in rankings is cushioned by the number of members listed with FIFA.
What would it take to make us great again?
More Fandis in the team?
Ilhan and Iryan to join brothers Irfan and Ikhsan in the starting eleven? Mom Wendy as the team physio? May just work..
Seriously, other than dissing the Uncles at FAS, what can really be done to lift the sport here?
Can a ground up initiative get something going?
